OUR STORY

The Expansion Community Center is an initiative of Expansion Church NYC, a community church that expresses its love to God through services to others following the teachings of Jesus. Our slogan reads “We love God, we love the people and we serve the community.” Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and just over a year and a half before the church was officially born, the Expansion Church core team has met and gathered many of its volunteers around the mission of community service. This led to the birth of a new church in the heart of Sunnyside and then moving to Long Island City, Queens NY. There, we had the opportunity to organize a massive food distribution project that reach over 1,000 different families in need within ust 8 months while simultaneously collaborating with 20 smaller food distribution centers throughout Queens County and Long Island. Following this we developed a series of programs and projects for children, single-parent families, elderly, and the immigrant community, which allowed us to better understand the community we were serving. We have made partnerships with wonderful organizations that have helped us train volunteers, develop new initiatives, and even finance these programs. In addition, we celebrate the collaboration with Flora Ministries Inc., a small social aid organization who will serve a helping hand in making our projects a reality.

Our journey continues from our full-time Community Center, with our primary focus on the needs of immigrant and refugees. We’re excited to share more details of these programs in the near future!
